About The Role

We’re looking for an exceptional VP of International to own Cleo’s growth and commercial performance in our home market. You’ll be responsible for driving user and revenue growth, deepening product-market fit, and shaping the UK strategy across marketing, partnerships, and product. This is a hands-on leadership role with a broad remit: you’ll operate like a GM while partnering with central Growth, Product, and Lending to build Cleo in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Own international strategy and performance

  • Own Cleo’s strategy and results across all non-US markets.
  • Own the trade-off between impact and effort for every new county
  • Be accountable for international-level KPIs across user growth, engagement, revenue, and unit economics.
  • Set clear success criteria for markets at each stage: launch, early traction, and steady state.

Lead the UK and scale it further

  • Own the UK as Cleo’s most mature international market, driving continued growth and commercial performance.
  • Ensure the UK acts as a proving ground and blueprint for future international launches.

Lead new country launches

  • Own the full lifecycle of new market entry: market selection, business cases, GTM strategy, and launch execution.
  • Partner closely with Growth, Product, Data, Legal, and Lending to ensure launches are fast, compliant, and scalable.
  • Build repeatable launch playbooks to accelerate future expansion.

Get markets to steady state

  • Drive markets from launch through to sustainable product-market fit and contribution margin.
  • Make disciplined investment decisions based on performance, learning velocity, and unit economics.

Build and lead international teams

  • Hire and develop country leads / GMs as markets scale.
  • Decide when markets need local leadership versus centralised support.
  • Build a strong international operating rhythm and leadership bench.

Represent the international user

  • Ensure product and marketing feel locally relevant while remaining globally scalable.
  • Shape product priorities based on international user behaviour and insights.

Collaborate Globally

  • Represent international performance at the SLT level.
  • Partner closely with central Growth, Product, Lending, and Finance leaders to align priorities and share learnings across markets.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience owning international or multi-market GM-style responsibility in a high-growth consumer or fintech company.
  • Track record of scaling existing markets and launching new ones successfully.
  • Strong strategic judgment around market selection, sequencing, and capital allocation.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and making high-conviction decisions.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leader and communicator.
  • Deeply data-driven, outcome-oriented, and pragmatic.
  • Motivated by Cleo’s mission and excited to build a global business beyond the US.
