The Opportunity: Scale the Future of Connectivity
While much of the industry remains in the experimentation phase, our client, a leading telecommunications group is moving into a high-scale "Value Realisation" phase. Following a successful foundational transformation, the group is now launching its most critical strategic pillar: The AI Transformation.
As the VP, Head of AI PMO, you will occupy a high-visibility seat within the Center of Expertise for Strategy and Transformation. You’ll be tasked with building and overseeing a sophisticated portfolio of AI initiatives, managing the journey from scoping through to full operationalisation for a functional, matrix team of 40–60 specialists.
The Mandate: Business-Driven Transformation
Your role is to ensure AI is positioned not as a siloed capability, but as a core driver of enterprise-wide transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Management & Value Realisation: Build and oversee the global AI initiative portfolio. You will own the design of KPIs, track progress, remove roadblocks, and lead high-level escalation and arbitrage for business-driven use cases.
- Strategic Alignment: Work closely with Executive Leaders to surface opportunities and embed AI into core products, processes, and decisions. You will champion a "Product Mindset" in how AI and data solutions are built, scaled, and evolved.
- Enterprise Literacy: Drive data and AI literacy across the organisation. Partner with HR to embed AI capabilities into teams and roles, ensuring the workforce is prepared for the AI-led future.
- Technical & Architectural Partnership: Coordinate with AI technical teams to ensure scalable, secure, and future-ready infrastructure. Provide critical input on enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and cloud/data mesh strategies.
- Ecosystem Orchestration: Manage a diverse ecosystem of internal and external partners, including specialist AI consultancies and global technology vendors.
The Strategic Roadmap: Key Use Cases
You will lead five flagship programs (Wave 1 & Wave 2) with a completion target of Q1 2028:
- Mobile Digital Twin: Revolutionising network optimisation through virtual modeling.
- AI-Enhanced Technical Diagnosis: Empowering technicians with predictive troubleshooting tools.
- Field Force AI Agents: Scaling intelligent support systems for technical operations in the field.
The Profile:
Our client is seeking a high-drive leader who balances industry depth, programme management with business acumen. You should possess expertise across the following:
- Telco Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Telco value chain, specifically Network and Field Service operations.
- AI Business Transformation: A track record of translating complex AI/Data concepts into business products that deliver measurable competitive advantage.
- Complex Program Management: Consulting experience (Big 4 or specialised) with the ability to lead cross-functional teams by influence in a corporate culture.
