Hey, Listen! Hookshot Media is looking for a Video Producer to join our video team on our Nintendo Life YouTube channel.

Nintendo Life is the largest Nintendo-focused news and reviews website in the world, with over 839k subscribers on YouTube. We are looking for someone who can help us plan, present, and produce standout Nintendo content that our audience loves to watch and share.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Producing (including planning, researching, filming and editing) video content for our YouTube channel
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of the console industry, including carefully monitoring the popularity of new and existing games on Nintendo Switch / Nintendo Switch 2
  • Analysing and assessing video game releases across many popular genres to deliver detailed, clear, and concise video content under time constraints
  • Working with our editorial team to select the most suitable games to cover, and the best approaches, structure, and content priorities for our videos
  • Helping to develop a best practice for video content creation on Nintendo Life
  • Collaborating with other Hookshot Media brands (such as Push Square) for cross-channel projects and shared campaigns when relevant
  • Implementing and experimenting with YouTube Shorts, live streams, and community posts to grow engagement and subscriber reach

Requirements

  • A confident and accomplished to-camera presenting style, with an emphasis on clarity and economy, but also a personable and humorous tone
  • Good working knowledge of video editing software (eg, Final Cut / Adobe Premiere)
  • Ability to manage your own schedule to produce video content to the highest standards while sometimes working under time pressures. Great attention to detail
  • Expert knowledge of popular Nintendo franchises
  • Extensive knowledge of video games across a wide range of genres, with a particular focus on the highest-profile new releases and most-played games on Nintendo Switch / Nintendo Switch 2
  • Ability to adapt and take feedback/direction from our editorial team and Directors
  • Ability to use data/analytics to help inform creative decisions and iterate on content performance
  • Familiarity with audio mixing, voiceover recording

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working collaboratively using remote project management or file-sharing tools (Slack, Google Drive, etc)
  • Good knowledge of camera operation, lighting setups, and microphone techniques for recording at home or on location
  • Proficient in using graphic design packages (such as Photoshop) to create attractive thumbnails
  • General familiarity with the video publishing environment
  • An interest in the technology, entertainment, and lifestyle sectors in general

Please include a short (3 to 5 minute) face-to-camera video with your application so we can get a feel for your presentation style and personality. This does not need to be a full production, a simple well-lit recording is fine.

  • Share your three favourite Nintendo franchises and why
  • Tell us about your favourite leftfield or obscure Nintendo game and why you love it
  • Include anything else you feel is important for us to know about you and your work

Please also include links to recent examples of your video work. Applications without a dedicated video and examples of your work will be much harder for us to assess.

Salary & Bonus Scheme

  • Pay dependent on experience, starting at £27,000 to £30,000 per annum
