Vice President – Operations (Highly Regulated Industry)

Reporting to Senior Management, we are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Vice President of Operations to lead and scale our clients’ national manufacturing footprint across Canada. Operating in a highly regulated industry, the VP of Operations will be responsible for overseeing multiple production sites, driving operational excellence, implementing automation and new technologies, and enhancing organizational capabilities.
Based anywhere in Canada, this leadership role requires extensive travel (50%+) and hands-on involvement across geographically dispersed facilities. The successful candidate will be a proven people leader with a track record of managing large teams and delivering results in complex, regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of 8–10 direct reports and an overall team of 400+ across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Operational Standardization: Lead the development and implementation of standardized processes, systems, and best practices across all sites.
- Technology & Automation: Spearhead the evaluation and rollout of new technologies, automation initiatives, and digital transformation projects, including ERP optimization (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to applicable regulations including GMP, GPP, HACCP, and import/export compliance standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, and HR to align operational initiatives with business objectives.
- Change Management: Drive change across the organization with a structured approach, enabling site leaders and teams to adopt new processes and systems efficiently.
- Performance Management: Define, track, and report on KPIs related to safety, efficiency, quality, and cost. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Capability Building: Build and mentor high-performing teams across locations, developing future leaders and promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
What the successful candidate will bring:
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in senior-level operations or technical management roles within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- At least 7+ years successfully leading complex operations and large, distributed technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field required; Master’s degree an asset
- Proven ability to lead through influence and motivation, coaching multiple teams through change and growth in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as GMP, GPP, HACCP, and import/export regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
- Exceptional change management capabilities with a track record of successfully leading automation and standardization initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills; able to navigate complex organizational structures and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience overseeing multiple manufacturing locations
In return, you can expect:
- Base Salary ranging from $200,000 to $230,000 including Bonus and LTIP plan
