Job Description

The Vice President of Business Development is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the company’s external growth strategy with a technical product across multiple regulated and non-regulated industries. This role will lead the identification, evaluation, negotiation, and execution of strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and commercial alliances that expand the company’s platform applications, accelerate revenue growth, and unlock new market opportunities.

This leader will serve as the primary executive responsible for building and managing high-value relationships with industry partners across multiple industries, OEMs, distributors, and technology innovators. The role is critical in extending the reach of the company’s core technology into adjacent markets and driving enterprise value through scalable partnership models.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute cross-market company growth objectives.
  • Lead the sourcing, structuring, negotiation, and execution of licensing agreements, OEM partnerships, co-development initiatives, and technology transfer opportunities across multiple industries.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key partners across multiple regulated and non-regulated industries, including manufacturers, distributors, research institutions, and channel partners.
  • Drive entry into new markets and applications by leveraging external partnerships to extend the company’s technology into adjacent use cases and industries.
  • Build and manage a diversified pipeline of strategic opportunities, including distribution expansion, platform licensing, and industry-specific partnerships.
  • Lead market assessments, competitive analysis, and commercial diligence to evaluate strategic fit, scalability, and revenue potential across different sectors.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and product teams to identify and prioritize external innovations and applications that complement the company’s core technology platform.
  • Serve as the company’s lead negotiator for complex, high-value agreements, including licensing, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
  • Partner with legal, finance, regulatory, clinical, and operations teams to structure and execute deals that are operationally and financially sound across varied regulatory environments.
  • Enable revenue growth through partnership-driven commercialization models, including OEM channels, distribution networks, and co-branded solutions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing partnerships function capable of supporting multi-industry growth and scaling external collaborations.

Required Experience/Skills

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in business development, strategic partnerships, licensing, or corporate development across multiple industries with technical products.
  • Demonstrated success structuring and executing complex licensing agreements, OEM partnerships, and multi-industry commercial deals.
  • Experience working across regulated (medical/dental) and non-regulated (industrial) environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercialization models, channel strategies, and partnership structures across multiple industries.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and translate technical innovations into scalable commercial opportunities.
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen, including deal valuation, ROI analysis, and long-term growth planning.
  • Executive presence with strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed organization and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on building scalable, repeatable partnership models that drive enterprise value.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
