Location: Cambridge, UK, UK remote

Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 p.a. full-time equivalent, dependent on experience

Basis: Permanent; full-time, part-time or flexible

Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK

The role

We are looking for an experienced, mid-level User Experience (UX) Researcher to join our team creating innovative products that deliver lasting value to young people and educators worldwide.

In this role, you'll work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to plan, design, and conduct both formative and evaluative research. Most of your work will involve engaging directly with educators and young people, helping teams gain a deep understanding of their needs and experiences. Alongside running your own qualitative and quantitative research projects, you'll collaborate with a senior UX researcher to share best practice and guide colleagues in embedding user-centred design across our products.

This role combines the variety and creativity of working on multiple products and challenges, with the chance to see your work make a lasting impact. You'll be part of an agile, collaborative digital team based in Cambridge and working remotely across the UK, using tools such as Figma, monday.com, and Slack to stay connected and deliver meaningful impact at scale.

We work hard to make sure that the Foundation is a place where everyone is supported to do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you're the right person for the job, we'll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you'll be joining an exceptional team of people who care about our mission and each other.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation and ongoing development of user personas and archetypes, using research and data to help the team empathise with our audiences and understand their needs and goals
  • Plan and conduct qualitative, moderated interviews with a range of users — including both educators and young people
  • Carry out unmoderated research, desk research, and analysis of quantitative data (such as site analytics) to assess the impact of our digital platforms, with particular focus on user journeys, engagement, and accessibility
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders across the Digital Products team and the Raspberry Pi Foundation to ensure research is targeted at the right problems and informs product design and development decisions
  • Work closely with Product Designers to advocate for a user-centred approach, contributing evidence and insight throughout the design process and during the evaluation of user journeys
  • Clearly communicate research findings and insights to stakeholders through engaging reports, presentations, and practical examples
  • Share knowledge and promote best practice in user experience research across the Digital Products team

Experience And Personal Attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not necessarily all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a professional digital User Experience Researcher
  • Understanding of best practice in qualitative and quantitative research, with the ability to synthesise findings into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to share findings in ways that are engaging and accessible to different audiences
  • Understanding of product design processes and how research can best support decision making at different stages
  • Experience of, or strong interest in, carrying out research with young people as participants
  • Experience of working collaboratively with Product Designers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and other colleagues in a cross-functional team
  • Experience of developing user personas and other artefacts that help teams design with users in mind
  • Familiarity with using analytics tools to complement user research
  • Interest in education and in creating engaging experiences for young people — whether in schools, informal settings, or through hobbies and creative projects.

About Us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent charity with a global mission to enable all young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.

We empower schools to teach computer science and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world's largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.

All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.

Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Report.
