Position: Telephone Operator
Type: Hourly contract
Compensation: $40–$70 per hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: Minimum 15 hours/week
Duration: ~3–4 weeks
Role Responsibilities
- Design domain-specific questions and scenarios related to telephone operations to help train AI models.
- Observe signal lights on switchboards and dial or press buttons to establish connections.
- Operate telephone switchboards and systems for local, long-distance, mobile, person-to-person, and emergency calls.
- Update directory information and maintain accurate call records.
- Perform clerical tasks such as typing, proofreading, and sorting information.
- Provide assistance to callers who require help dialing or are in emergency situations.
- Monitor automated systems for collect calls and intervene when assistance is required.
- Support customers with special billing requests and relay services.
- Maintain detailed records of calls placed, received, and associated charges.
Requirements
- Strong experience working as a Telephone Operator or in closely related roles (e.g., PBX Operator, Directory Assistance Operator, Telecommunications Operator).
- Strong writing skills and comfort working with computer-based tools and platforms.
- Ability to accurately document workflows and operational logic.
- High attention to detail and reliability when handling sensitive or time-critical information.
