About the role
We are looking for a Legacy Systems Software Engineer to strengthen our team working with business-critical applications on the OpenVMS (VMS) platform. The role focuses on development, maintenance, and long-term support of existing systems that are central to daily operations.
This position suits an engineer who enjoys working with stable, mature systems and understands the value of reliability, performance, and continuity.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and support applications running on the OpenVMS platform
- Work with and support existing legacy codebases
- Perform analysis, debugging, and issue resolution in production systems
- Maintain and optimize database interactions on VMS
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand system behavior and requirements
- Contribute to system stability, performance, and long-term maintainability
Required experience & skills
- ✅ Hands-on experience with OpenVMS / VMS
- ✅ Proven experience developing and supporting applications on VMS
- ✅ Experience with Oracle RDB or strong database experience within VMS environments
- ✅ Comfortable working with, maintaining, and improving legacy code
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or automotive environments
- Knowledge of structured or procedural programming languages used in legacy systems
- Familiarity with system documentation and long-term support processes
