Summary / Objective
The Systems Administrator is a client-facing role responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the IT environments of multiple clients. These environments span on-premises infrastructure, hybrid deployments, and fully cloud-based environments, requiring broad technical expertise and adaptability.
Reporting directly to the ITS Manager, the Systems Administrator ensures the reliability, security, and performance of client systems by delivering advanced technical support, proactive administration, and efficient incident response. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of IT operations, familiarity with ITIL best practices, and excellent change-management discipline.
Essential Functions
- - Administer, monitor, and maintain servers, storage, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and network infrastructure across client environments.
- - Perform system installations, upgrades, configuration changes, and patch management.
- - Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- - Implement and maintain client system security.
- - Support identity and access management including Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Autopilot.
- - Maintain and optimize network infrastructures.
- - Manage and document service tickets.
- - Conduct system health checks and capacity planning.
- - Support enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- - Create and maintain technical documentation.
- - Collaborate with ITS teams on deployments and initiatives.
- - Support VoIP, video conferencing, and mobile device management.
- - Coordinate with vendors and service providers.
Required Skills and Experience
- - Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or similar.
- - Minimum 5 years experience in systems administration.
- - Strong background with on-prem, hybrid, and cloud infrastructures.
- - Understanding of IT operations and ITIL best practices.
- - Demonstrated change-management experience.
- - Proficiency with Windows Server, AD, M365, virtualization, networking, firewalls.
- - PowerShell scripting.
- - Cybersecurity fundamentals.
- - Experience with backup technologies.
- - Strong troubleshooting abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- - Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, CompTIA certifications.
- - MSP or multi-client environment experience.
- - Strong communication skills.
- - Organizational and multitasking skills.
- - Adaptability and continuous-learning mindset.
Physical Requirements
- - Prolonged computer use.
- - Occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 40 lbs).
The base salary range for this position in Canada is $75,000 - $90,000 CAD per year. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. This is Canadian-based employment, and it is expected that all employees maintain legal entitlement to work in Canada.
