Your Role
As a Sustainability Manager - Impact claims, you will play a key role in driving a just and sustainable energy transition in hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, shipping and materials by supporting the development of sustainability impact claims beyond carbon emission reductions and their integration in RSB certification and the RSB Book & Claim System.
You will report to the Associate Director - Digital Solutions & Book and Claim, and work closely with RSB's Programme and Certification teams.

Your Role
As a Sustainability Manager - Impact claims, you will play a key role in driving a just and sustainable energy transition in hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, shipping and materials by supporting the development of sustainability impact claims beyond carbon emission reductions and their integration in RSB certification and the RSB Book & Claim System.
You will report to the Associate Director - Digital Solutions & Book and Claim, and work closely with RSB's Programme and Certification teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of sustainability impact indicators in key sustainability areas such as water (for irrigated crops and industrial scenarios), soil health, biodiversity, and social impact (based on RSB's 12 Principles and Criteria). We expect technical leadership and the capacity to implement impact partnerships and projects efficiently and timely
- Supporting the integration of sustainability impact indicators in the RSB certification and RSB Book & Claim System, including developing procedures related to impact claims' Chain of Custody, verification, and reporting
- Working with supply chain partners, including farmers, producers and buyers, to pilot the implementation of sustainability impact indicators and related claims in real, sustainably certified biomass and biofuel supply chains, ensuring that learnings are adequately integrated into relevant RSB systems
- Working with RSB's multi-stakeholder community through dedicated meetings and working groups (e.g. RSB's General Standard Working Group and RSB's Book & Claim Platform) to share learnings and validate results and decisions
- Showcasing RSB's sustainability impact claim work effectively at stakeholder meetings and events, developing messaging and writing articles and technical case studies for RSB's communications and publications
- Supporting the development of fundraising and partnership proposals to grow the sustainability impact claims' reach
Required - Experience, education and qualifications
- Technical expertise in sustainability areas such as water (mandatory), soil health and biodiversity (desired) in biomass and industrial production, demonstrated by a relevant university degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in international bio-based and circular economy projects
- Excellent understanding of sustainability certification, demonstrated by at least 2 years of professional experience working with sustainability certifications like RSB or similar
- Understanding of water footprint and life cycle analysis (LCA) methodologies
- Experience with quantitative modelling of water use and its implications, interpreting data from various sources to create scientifically robust metrics and methodologies.
- Understanding voluntary sustainability impact targets such as the science-based target for nature
- Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, international environment and to find pragmatic solutions to technical challenges through a mix of theory, practical implementation and stakeholder dialogue
- Experience managing projects and engaging stakeholders at all levels, from farmers to senior industry-level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to collect data and prepare professional and accurate technical reports and presentations
- Master's degree and/or relevant qualifications in environmental science, sustainability, sustainable development, or similar
- Able and willing to travel internationally
- General IT proficiency and good knowledge of MS Office
- Service-oriented mindset with a can-do attitude
- Comfortable with a working culture of excellence
- Comfortable to work remotely (home-office-based)
- Ability to work in a multicultural and virtual team with an attitude of knowledge sharing
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure

- Experience developing, implementing and validating sustainability impact indicators in water, soil, biodiversity and social impact, including the integration into certification systems or supply chain assessments
- Experience in working with corporations on sustainability impact metrics

- Location: The position is home office-based. Candidates must be located in Spain, United Kingdom, or Germany and possess a valid work permit for the country they are applying for
