The Agribusiness Market Ecosystem Alliance (AMEA) is a multi-stakeholder network with a Mission to transform the systems that support farmers organisations and agri-SMEs to create value for farmers and themselves. By 2030 AMEA aims to have 20 vibrant Local Networks which enable 50 million farmers to receive improved, coordinated business development services. AMEA will do this by investing in localized BDS Roadmaps which coordinate strategic action which is driven by evidence-based learning on BDS cost-effectiveness. This is what AMEA calls Learning into Action.


JOB PURPOSE

The AMEA Strategic Learning Manager is responsible for supporting delivery of high quality learning processes and products that enable current and future agribusiness investments to improve their approach to designing, delivering and evaluating Business Development Services for Agri-Enterprises.


JOB LOCATION AND TRAVEL

The Strategic Learning Manager can be located in any Country, but the preference would be for either the Netherlands or an AMEA Local Network Country. The work is primarily conducted virtually and the Strategic Learning Manager should have the capacity to work effectively from home. Travel will be required to support learning processes and dialogues, including the AMEA Global Convening. Travel is not expected to be more than 20 days in any calendar year.


REPORTING LINES

The Strategic Learning Manager will report directly to the AMEA Network Director. There will also be matrix reporting to Global Working Group Leads as you will be supporting them to move the WG activities forward. You will also work closely with Local Network Facilitators in 8 Countries to build and deliver a pipeline of case studies.


SALARY GRADE

The salary band and scale for this position is benchmarked to Birches BG-10 role for a Senior Working Level Professional. The candidate recruited will normally start on step 1 which is Euro 40,000 p.a., however a higher step can be considered if the candidate’s skills and experience justify this. The salary is for a 40 hour working week, however AMEA can consider flexible, pro-rata working arrangements.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead and Coordinate AMEA’s Strategic Learning Initiatives

• Provide overall leadership for the Learning Initiatives

• Lead quantitative analysis processes when required

• Support high quality qualitative analysis

• Work with Communications services to develop and disseminate high quality products

• Support Local Networks to design and implement National Dialogues and find strategies to take Learning into Action


2. Support Global Working Groups (WGs) to develop and implement high quality plans

• Support WG leads to prepare for and facilitate WG meetings (at least 4 per year)

• Support WG activities taking the lead where necessary

• Develop propositions for WGs which enable constructive dialogue and decisions to be made


3. Support Network Growth including learning processes on Network Development

• Lead the tracking of AMEA KPIs, including coordinating survey processes

• Support network participants to more deeply connect their work with AMEA

• Support the design and delivery of high quality physical and online network convenings


4. Other support functions

• Provide support to meetings as requested e.g. Board meetings, member bilaterals, etc.

• Monitor correspondence and ensure action is taken when needed.

• Support LAC and/or Francophone Networks (if language skills are aligned)


ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• 8+ years experience relevant to AMEA’s mission i.e. agribusiness/BDS in developing countries

• Excellent analytical skills including the use of AI to generate initial analysis

• Excellent writing skills. Fluency in English. Competency in either French or Spanish is desirable.

• Good facilitation and presentation skills

• Strong interpersonal abilities, willingness to cross boundaries and work with diverse people

• Attention to detail, organized, great time management

• Dynamic problem-solving skills

EDUCATION

• MSc in economics, agriculture economics, agribusiness, rural development, sustainable management of natural resources or related fields is desired, however all backgrounds (e.g. BSc. and relevant additional experience) will be considered.
