Position Overview

ClearView Bookkeeping is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant who thrives on bringing clarity, structure, and confidence to small business financials.

This is not a traditional accounting position. As part of our collaborative and highly supportive team, you'll work directly with business owners across a variety of industries, ensuring their financial records are accurate, GAAP-compliant, and decision-ready. You'll review and refine bookkeeping completed by our support team, prepare financial statements, identify trends and opportunities, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the month.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, enjoys solving financial challenges, communicates confidently with clients, and believes financial statements should be a powerful management tool—not just something prepared for tax season.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with relationship-building and operational problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Financial Reporting

Manage the accounting responsibilities for a portfolio of multiple small business clients.

Perform month-end and year-end close procedures.

Review bookkeeping completed by support staff for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, including:

  • Profit & Loss
  • Balance Sheet
  • Cash Flow Statement

Analyze financial results for trends, inconsistencies, and areas requiring attention.

Maintain clean, reconciled, and audit-ready accounting records.

Technical Accounting

Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) across all assigned client files.

Review and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, payroll liabilities, and balance sheet accounts.

Ensure proper accounting treatment of:

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Payroll
  • Fixed Assets
  • Accruals
  • Debt
  • Owner transactions

Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.

Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation.

Client Partnership

Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned clients.

Respond to client and internal requests within company policy timeframes.

Explain financial statements in a clear, non-technical manner.

Lead or participate in monthly financial review meetings.

Proactively identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities.

Help business owners better understand how their financial data supports growth and decision making.

Process Improvement

Recommend improvements to accounting workflows and internal controls.

Maintain compliance with ClearView Standard Operating Procedures.

Support process documentation and accounting best practices.

Collaborate with leadership to improve efficiency and client experience.

Team Collaboration

Partner with team bookkeepers to ensure quality work.

Provide coaching and guidance on accounting questions and best practices.

Participate in weekly team meetings, client reviews, and continuing education.

Support a collaborative, positive, and growth-focused team culture.
