- Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of Spanish preterite and imperfect tenses, object pronouns, reflexive verbs, commands, comparative and superlative forms, intermediate vocabulary, and expanded reading and listening comprehension. Ability to explain preterite versus imperfect selection, direct and indirect object pronoun placement, and formal and informal command formation while preparing students for intermediate proficiency.
- Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching past tense narration, pronoun usage, and command formation in Spanish. Guides students through distinguishing preterite from imperfect in storytelling, placing object pronouns correctly with conjugated verbs and infinitives, forming affirmative and negative commands, and reading intermediate texts. Emphasizes developing paragraph-level communication and connects Spanish to travel, music, and cultural traditions.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Spanish 2 curricula and common challenges such as preterite versus imperfect distinctions, mastering irregular preterite forms, and pronoun placement rules. Adapts instruction using storytelling activities, structured writing exercises, and paired conversation practice to support intermediate learners building proficiency in all four language modalities toward level three readiness.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
