SolarCorps Service Operations and Maintenance Fellow
The Opportunity...
The SolarCorps Service Operations and Maintenance Fellow will work directly with the Operations and Maintenance Service Manager to support clients with the operation and troubleshooting of their solar systems. The position is primarily remote office-based administrative support although there may be opportunities to visit sites or installations and learn about system installation. For the right, highly motivated individual, this position will provide exposure to overall operations, processes and policies of a successful solar installation non-profit.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour, plus the benefits listed below. Fellows who complete 1700 hours with GRID and complete their contracted term of service will be eligible for a cash end of term award (amount to be determined).

Where you will sit & the places you may go...
This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

SolarCorps Service Operations and Maintenance Fellow
The Opportunity...
The SolarCorps Service Operations and Maintenance Fellow will work directly with the Operations and Maintenance Service Manager to support clients with the operation and troubleshooting of their solar systems. For the right, highly motivated individual, this position will provide exposure to overall operations, processes and policies of a successful solar installation non-profit.
- Provide direct client support via phone and email regarding client’s questions, perform remote troubleshooting, and dispatch to service staff.
- Work closely with GRID regional staff and partners to facilitate service case completion
- Update service case information
- Identify opportunities to make improvements to service processes
- Contribute to internal documentation
- Develop client-facing education materials
- Must be 18 years or older
- Commitment to the 11 month program
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle a variety of client situations with enthusiasm, care and tact
- Ability to learn and retain new concepts and technology quickly
- Experience in working in or learning in a remote environment
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
- Proficient computer skills, Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
- Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs and/or helping families and communities in need
- When working remotely, you must have access to reliable internet connection. GRID will provide a laptop, charger, headset when remote working is required.
- Availability for a Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in Oakland, CA
- Fluency in Spanish
- Knowledge of electricity principles and solar technology
- Experience with basic statistical analysis and reporting
