About The Role
As a Displays Software Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will play a vital role within our remote piloting software team. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain real-time user interface applications that enable pilots and remote operators to command and monitor our automated aircraft systems. These applications will range from browser-based interfaces to embedded systems on aviation-grade hardware, supporting both experimental test flights and certified operational systems. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, designers, systems engineers, and pilots, to ensure that the software is user-centered, safe, and compliant with aviation standards. Your work will directly contribute to building a fully certified, reliable, and scalable automation platform that advances the future of autonomous flight.

About The Role

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience developing user-facing software for high-performance or mission-critical applications
- Fluent in JavaScript
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience with core browser technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience with C or C++ programming
- Experience developing reusable features using Web Components or JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, Lit, etc.
- Thorough understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and networking
- Experience translating graphical specifications into functional software solutions
- Knowledge of aviation display software standards, including ARINC-661 and DO-178
- Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, etc.
- Familiarity with human-in-the-loop testing and certification campaigns
- Commercial pilot license is preferred
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
- Design, architect, and develop real-time user interface applications for controlling automated aircraft systems
- Create browser-based and embedded UI solutions on aviation-grade hardware
- Own the entire software lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and maintenance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, systems engineers, and pilots to create safe and user-centered interfaces
- Implement features that support rapid prototyping of workflows and designs for experimental test flights
- Develop reference implementations for certified displays and control systems aligning with aviation standards
- Ensure software solutions are compliant with safety and certification requirements
- Participate in testing, validation, and certification processes for aviation-grade software systems
- Continuously improve UI performance, usability, and reliability based on feedback and testing outcomes
