Senior Vice President, Operations - Remote - Full-Time


An emerging, growth-stage eyecare software company is seeking an executive level leader for Senior Vice President of Operations to lead 30+ people (and growing). This position will report to the Founder & CEO (physician entrepreneur) in scaling the business to its next phase.

The ideal candidate is an operations-minded executive with strong organizational experience and commercial instincts. The goal is to provide the Founder & CEO with scale and support.

The primary oversight responsibility will be ownership and direct leadership of and participation within the marketing, partnerships, sales, and customer success functions. The successful candidate would also be expected to soon lead managers to own the functions of product, engineering, quality assurance, customer delivery, customer service and day-to-day management of an online medical clinic.

Our company is big on ownership, but soft on titles, so the exact title may be different for the successful candidate.

This is a 100% home office-based position as Care1 is exclusively a remote company.

We make eyecare practice software that empowers optometrists to provide the best possible medical eyecare. Our software achieves this by providing optometrists with specialty telemedicine consults and AI clinical decision support. Our mission is to help them be the best doctor they can be, deepen their patient relationships, and grow their practice revenue. Care1 is now utilized by 300 eye doctors across Canada, and has helped to provide care for over 150,000 patients.


Our team includes 20+ engineers and AI researchers building a category-defining technology platform, with a vision to ensure every patient receives the best possible eye care.


We are past the start-up stage, and strongly revenue generating. We are funded entirely on revenue and savings, and not VC or private equity backed. This means simultaneously that we need to be very prudent with how we spend, but also that neither this position nor the company itself has the risk of a time-limited runway.


Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Marketing
  • Department headcount = 4-5 (0 managers, you would directly lead the on-the-ground team)
  • Own and scale the end-to-end revenue engine (marketing, sales, partnerships, customer success), aligning all functions to pipeline and growth targets
  • Drive demand generation and pipeline growth through multi-channel strategies (partnerships, events, digital, outbound)
  • Directly lead and coach the executors on the team
  • Personally execute key deals, partnerships, and enterprise sales opportunities
  • Establish KPIs, CRM systems, and operating cadence to ensure visibility, accountability, and continuous revenue performance optimization


2. Product & Engineering
  • Department headcount = 20-25 (2 managers)
  • Partner closely with the CEO on product direction and prioritization
  • Participate in roadmap and product management decisions
  • Support alignment between engineering, customer needs, and commercialization


3. Daily Operations (Customer Service + Online Medical Clinic)
  • Department headcount = 3-4 (1 manager)
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across software delivery and running an online medical clinic, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and quality of care
  • Manage and optimize customer service functions, driving responsiveness, satisfaction, and retention
  • Implement and maintain operational systems, processes, and KPIs to support scalable growth across teams


4. Team Leadership
  • Act as the organizational integrator, aligning teams around company priorities and ensuring consistent execution against quarterly and annual goals
  • Establish and drive operating cadence (planning, KPIs, scorecards, and accountability rhythms) to keep the business on track, while bringing discipline to resource allocation for competing internal demands (eg. feature requests vs. delivery capacity)
  • Foster cross-functional alignment, resolving bottlenecks and ensuring clear communication between product, revenue, and operations
  • Coach and develop team leaders, building a high-accountability culture with strong ownership and performance standards


What First Year Success Looks Like

  • First 1 month = Ownership and direct people management of business team (marketing, sales, onboarding, customer success and partnerships) to work cohesively under 1 revenue funnel.
  • First 3-4 months = Ownership of online medical clinic and customer service.
  • First 6-12 months = Ownership of product and engineering.


Requirements

  • Previous director-level or higher position within an SMB software company
  • Proven operational management role supporting a CEO, COO, or CCO
  • Exposure to or oversight of sales and marketing functions


Assets

  • Deeper experience in any of product, marketing, sales and/or customer success.
  • Leadership experience / demonstrated leadership intent.
  • Healthcare or eyecare experience is nice to have, but not required.
