Senior Purchasing Agent
Calgary- REMOTE
6 MONTH CONTRACT
40-50 Hourly
Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement projects, including open and competitive procurement processes, from planning through contract execution, ensuring fairness, transparency, and full regulatory compliance.
- Act as the Procurement lead in support of Business Transformation (BTx) initiatives, liaising with internal stakeholders to enable go‑live readiness, orderly contract decommissioning, and contractor/consultant offboarding.
- Provide expert guidance on procurement strategy, emerging procurement trends, innovations, and best practices within the knowledge sector.
- Monitor and uphold governance requirements across procurement policies, trade agreements, legislation, internal workflows, and compliance standards.
- Partner with contract managers to define and articulate business requirements, establish clear evaluation criteria, and develop high‑quality procurement documentation (e.g., NRFPs, RFQs).
- Manage shared procurement responsibilities including contract management, third‑party risk management, and the onboarding and offboarding of external resources, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consistently demonstrating and reinforcing AIMCo’s values through all interactions.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; SCMP designation considered an asset
- 5+ years of procurement experience within the financial services industry
- Experience with public sector procurement, including competitive bidding and working with domestic and international trade agreements
- Proficient in public procurement processes, competitive bidding, and post‑contract management, with the ability to manage high volumes of contract records
- In‑depth knowledge of applicable trade agreements (CETA, CFTA, NWPTA) and relevant legislation (FOIPPA)
- Strong understanding of contract law and comfort working with a variety of technologies and systems
- Exceptional writing, reviewing, and editing skills for procurement documentation (RFx, Statements of Work, contracts) with strong attention to detail
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, leveraging data to support informed decision‑making
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with business users from diverse backgrounds
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
