A Day in the Life
As a backend Product Manager who thrives on untangling technical complexity and aligning teams around elegant, scalable solutions. You’ll work closely with backend engineers, Engineering Managers, and other squads to shape how our internal domains interact, ensuring APIs are clearly defined, versioned, and aligned to evolving product needs. You’ll bring structure to ambiguity by breaking big ideas into small, testable value chunks. From writing technically focused product requirements to building solid business cases for senior-level review, you’ll be a driving force in shipping lean, meaningful product increments that truly move the needle.
We're a fast-paced organisation and when you join us, we guarantee you’ll grow both professionally and personally in the time you spend with us.
Your Responsibilities
Skills
Here are some of the individual skills we know will enable you to succeed in this position. If you don’t tick every box - don't worry. We can support you in both your personal and professional development:
We are on a mission to become the best we can be, constantly challenging ourselves to achieve and learn. You will be supported to learn new technology – both in breadth and depth - and encouraged to challenge our ways of thinking with new and innovative ideas.
Our “north star” is to become an elite performer across all 4 key DORA metrics (we’re already close!). To drive towards elite status, we apply and continually inspect and adapt the best Agile frameworks and practices inspired by DevOps, SRE, Scrum, XP and Lean. We are a highly collaborative environment and regularly practice Mob and Pair based programming which we believe improve our quality of delivery and share understanding.
We take our operational performance, security, and reliability as seriously as our quality and development practices. We are entirely cloud hosted on AWS and highly automated.
Some Specific Technologies We Use Include
Python | AWS Lambda | MongoDB | Vue.JS | Storyblok | CDK
Ways of working
On a typical day you’ll be working from a laptop with a screen, mouse, keyboard, and headset. You’ll be meeting your colleagues on Zoom and keeping in touch regularly via email and Slack too – we’d expect you to be using your computer for around seven hours a day. We’d ask that you have a distraction-free work area and a reliable internet connection with a speed of 25Mbps so you can work effectively. We’ll make sure you have the right home set-up that supports you in the role by providing best-in-class technology, money towards a desk, and vision support.
Inclusion at ManyPets
We promise to give you the same opportunities as everyone else and we won’t discriminate against you at any point in the process. This includes how we source talent, our interview process, our conditions of employment (including pay) and feedback. If you'd like to read more about this, please download our Approach to Inclusion policy.
Reasonable adjustments and support
If you need any help, support, or advice at any point during the hiring process please email [email protected]. If you want to ask any questions or request an adjustment, please let us know and we'll do what we can to flex our approach.
