The Senior Manager, Category Management & Sourcing owns end-to-end strategy for assigned clinical and non-clinical spend categories across Unified Women’s Healthcare. This role is accountable for defining category vision, shaping supplier ecosystems, and driving measurable financial and operational outcomes through disciplined sourcing, supplier partnerships, and governance models.

Acting as a strategic partner to Finance, Operations, IT, Legal, and Medical Affiliates, this role balances cost, risk, service, and innovation to bring structure and clarity to complex, high-impact purchasing decisions. The Senior Manager translates enterprise priorities into actionable category roadmaps and ensures sourcing and supplier strategies directly support business objectives.

Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Own assigned clinical and non-clinical categories end-to-end, developing multi-year category strategies aligned to enterprise priorities, financial goals, and operational needs.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders, evaluating tradeoffs between cost, service levels, risk, standardization, and flexibility.
  • Design and maintain category roadmaps that anticipate business growth, technology evolution, and regulatory requirements.

Establish clear intake, prioritization, and decision frameworks to bring structure and transparency to category and sourcing decisions.

Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Execution

  • Lead category-specific sourcing initiatives from problem definition through supplier selection, including requirements development, market analysis, RFP design, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations that balance cost, service levels, risk allocation, and performance commitments in support of long-term category objectives.
  • Determine when competitive bidding is required versus when partnership, renewal, or alternative approaches deliver greater value.
  • Partner with Legal to review, redline, and negotiate commercial and operational contract terms across diverse categories.

Ensure sourcing strategies remain aligned with category objectives and enterprise standards.

Supplier Ecosystem & Performance Management

  • Build and manage supplier ecosystems that support reliability, scalability, innovation, and risk mitigation across assigned categories.
  • Establish and oversee supplier performance frameworks, including KPIs, scorecards, and quarterly business reviews for critical suppliers.
  • Lead remediation, renegotiation, or supplier transitions when performance, economics, or risk profiles change.

Partner with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and long-term value creation.

  • Uphold procurement governance, compliant sourcing practices, and cross-functional engagement.
  • Partner with Finance and analytics teams to align sourcing outcomes with budgets and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or related commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated ownership of large, complex portfolios with enterprise-level impact.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong negotiation, financial analysis, and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, technology, or multi-site service organizations strongly preferred.
  • Prior supplier-side, product, or program management experience is a plus.

  • Adoption and execution of category strategies aligned to enterprise priorities and budgets.
  • Measurable financial and operational improvements across managed categories (e.g., rebates, administrative fees, price discounts, and cost avoidance).
