Senior Logistics Business Development Manager
Location: Remote (Eastern Time Zone)
Compensation: Base commensurate with experience + uncapped commission
Position Overview
Ferretti Search has been exclusively retained to identify a Senior Logistics Business Development Manager to drive multimodal sales growth across Ocean, Air, Trucking, and Warehousing for a growing logistics organization.
In this role, you’ll leverage your existing network and book of business to secure new customers, expand market share, and support the build‑out of new operational divisions. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, develop SOPs, influence strategy, and serve as an escalation point for key clients. Long term, this position will grow into a leadership role with responsibility for hiring, mentoring, and developing sales talent. Ideal for an entrepreneurial logistics professional ready to make a major impact.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Identify, target, and secure new business across all logistics modes.
- Leverage an existing network to drive revenue and consistently meet or exceed sales targets.
- Cultivate strong relationships with shippers, carriers, agents, and global partners.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with accuracy, urgency, and professionalism.
Operational Collaboration & Process Development
- Partner with internal teams to support operational execution as service lines expand.
- Develop and refine SOPs, workflows, and operational processes for new and existing divisions.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with industry regulations.
- Monitor performance metrics, analyze delays, and implement improvements to enhance service efficiency.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Accounting to ensure seamless customer onboarding and service delivery.
- Share market trends, competitive insights, and industry best practices to support strategy and decision-making.
- Communicate operational and regulatory requirements to internal teams and technology partners.
Team Development & Leadership Potential
- Act as an escalation point to resolve client and carrier issues.
- Mentor team members and promote best-in-class training practices.
- Lead structured meetings, ensuring clear agendas, tracked action items, and accountability.
- Long-term expectation to recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing sales team.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding or 3PL, covering Ocean, Air, Trucking, and Warehousing.
- A proven history of achieving revenue goals and bringing an active book of business.
- Strong operational understanding of multimodal logistics.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and digital freight tools.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and scalable processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across departments.
