About Luo

Luo is building the financial infrastructure to connect Africa to the rest of the world. Our platform helps African businesses make international payments faster than ever. Luo recently raised $4 million in seed funding from top investors, including the co-founder of Monzo and leading experts in cross-border payments.

As Luo expands across multiple countries, we are building our finance foundation from the ground up, and we’re looking for a Senior Financial Controller to take the lead. This is one of the first finance roles at Luo, with the opportunity to shape the function, design processes, and build systems to support our growth.

Role Overview

You’ll be responsible for setting up and running the group’s financial control framework from accounting and reporting to consolidation and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building structure in fast-scaling environments and wants to leave a lasting mark on how finance operates at Luo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and structure accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Manage month-end closings and ensure timely and accurate consolidation at group level.
  • Coordinate with local accountants, auditors, and external partners.
  • Prepare management reports (cash flow, P&L, and key performance indicators).
  • Design and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools as the company scales.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant.
  • Background in payments, FX, fintech, or other fast-moving international environments is a strong plus.
  • Experience managing multi-entity and multi-currency accounting and consolidations.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills; able to build finance processes from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of accounting standards.
  • Chartered Accountant (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) qualification is a plus.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a lean, high-growth setup.
  • Fluency in English required; French is a plus.
