As a Senior Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical vision and strategy across multiple engineering teams. You will lead and mentor managers, drive cross-functional initiatives, and ensure alignment between technical roadmaps and business objectives. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic foresight to scale engineering practices and deliver high-impact solutions. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while managing resources, budgets, and complex project priorities. Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage multiple high-performing engineering teams, promoting collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence
  • Oversee hiring, performance reviews, and career development for engineers and engineering managers, ensuring clear growth paths and effective mentorship
  • Drive cross-team projects, resolving dependencies and strategic roadblocks to maintain momentum on large-scale initiatives
  • Align technical roadmaps with business objectives, identifying opportunities to scale processes and improve efficiency
  • Define, monitor, and report key performance metrics for engineering teams to inform strategic decisions
  • Develop and execute technical strategy to ensure long-term system scalability, reliability, and innovation
  • Anticipate and proactively address architectural and organizational challenges, providing guidance while empowering teams to solve problems independently
  • Manage budgets, headcount planning, and resource allocation to optimize departmental performance


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus
  • 8+ years of software development experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles managing engineering managers
  • Deep expertise in system architecture, scalable distributed systems, and design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and scaling engineering processes across multiple teams
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to mentor managers and foster an inclusive, collaborative environment
  • Track record of managing complex, large-scale cross-functional projects from conception to delivery
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences
  • Experience with budget management, resource planning, and cost optimization for multiple teams or departments
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
