We are looking for a:
Senior Business Analyst – Rail Operations Solutions
to support the evolution, structuring, and positioning of rail operation services and integrated mobility solutions within a complex international rail environment.
This is not a technical engineering role. We seek a strategic, business-oriented professional who operates at the intersection of: rail operations performance, customer needs & service design, business opportunity development, economic and value analysis, organisational and operational transformation.
You will contribute to strengthening business analysis maturity, applying structured methodologies and service design principles to develop holistic, customer-centric solutions across rail operations ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Analysis:
- Analyse railway operators’ business models, operational structures, KPIs, and performance frameworks
- Conduct gap analysis between current and target operational states
- Identify optimisation opportunities across reliability, availability, punctuality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Translate strategic goals into structured, actionable analysis and solution frameworks
Stakeholder Engagement & Service Design:
- Facilitate workshops and structured interviews with customer and internal stakeholders
- Develop stakeholder maps, customer journey maps, service blueprints, and personas
- Apply service design and user-centered approaches to enhance operational and customer experience outcomes
- Align diverse stakeholders around common business objectives and measurable outcomes
Requirements & Solution Structuring:
- Gather, validate, and document business requirements (use cases, value streams, user stories)
- Translate operational challenges into structured solution concepts
- Map customer needs to existing rail operation services, digital tools, and performance improvement models
- Support solution validation together with technical, architecture, and operational teams
Business Case & Value Modelling:
- Develop robust business cases (ROI, lifecycle cost, efficiency gains, cost optimisation)
- Support tender analysis and value proposition development
- Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and decision-making material
Transformation & Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to the standardisation of business analysis methodologies
- Promote integrated, cross-functional collaboration and reduce siloed thinking
- Support testing, validation (UAT), and change management initiatives
- Identify risks related to requirements and proposed solutions
Key Challenges:
- Managing complex, evolving operational environments
- Balancing strategic vision with practical operational constraints
- Engaging multiple stakeholders with differing priorities
- Maintaining a human-centric and customer-focused approach amid digital transformation
- Supporting multiple initiatives simultaneously
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Transportation/Mobility, Management, Economics or comparable qualification
- 10+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Rail/public transport/mobility environments, Transportation consulting or operational optimization
- English: Fluent (mandatory)
- Proven experience in complex, multi-stakeholder organisations
- Experience supporting tenders, business development, or strategic initiatives is highly valuable
- Strong analytical and structuring capabilities
- Expertise in requirements elicitation and documentation
- Experience with process modelling, value stream analysis, and data-driven decision-making
- Knowledge of methodologies such as SWOT, PESTLE, root cause analysis, Lean or BPM
- Business modelling and financial/value analysis skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation abilities
- Ability to translate technical and operational input into clear business language
