This position supports our mission through playing a vital role in ensuring seamless coordination of patient referrals between primary care providers, specialists/facilities, and health plans. This position is responsible for verifying insurance eligibility, processing referrals, obtaining authorizations as needed, and finding a specialist or facility participating in patients’ insurance if necessary. The Referral Coordinator serves as a liaison between patients, providers/facilities, and insurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate communication while delivering exceptional customer service. This role supports the overall efficiency of the practice and contributes to a positive patient experience.

- Process referrals and authorizations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage for referred services.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to facilitate referral coordination.
- Utilize interpreters when needed to support communication across diverse populations.
- Maintain detailed records of referral activity and follow-up status.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support continuity of care.
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries timely and professionally .
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Achieves established performance targets.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of managed care concepts, medical terminology, and third-party payers.
- Knowledge of insurance, medical office practice, and/or referral processing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and referral management systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
