Procedures and Training: Develop and/or modify policies, procedures, and training modules, based on the outcome of audits or as designated by the department manager.
Quote Process: Review completed quotes for technical accuracy and create and/or modify entries in the pricing/capabilities database in order to present accurate information in an effort to reduce the dependence of Sales on Engineering and/or Operations in generating accurate quotes. Work with Contracts/Sales/Marketing during quote function on large jobs to ensure vendor qualifications, contracts, special handling, etc. on TMS items.
Vendor management: Includes qualification of vendors to required standards, maintaining approved database, nuclear/FDA audits, working with the labs to find accredited sources (where there might be more than one, work with Purchasing to obtain best price & delivery, etc.), vendor corrective actions, monitoring vendor Transcat Managed Service (TMS)/asset cal metrics. Work with vendors to implement needed improvements in techniques, as required.
Frequent travel is required.
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in a technical or scientific field of study from four-year accredited college or university and minimum five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Formal technical training, such as PMEL or TMDE, is desirable.

- Familiarity with various standards and CFRs: ISO9001, ISO/IEC17025, ANSI/NCSLI Z540.1 and Z540.3, ISO13485, IATF16949, 10CFR21, 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, 21CFR210, 21CFR211, 21CFR820, 21CFR11, AMS2750 etc.
- Perform Internal and Vendor audits based on the requirements listed above. Perform internal technical audits, including Desktop, Bench (over-the-shoulder), and Instrument audits (parameter checks), of instruments that are calibrated in the Transcat labs.
- Assist in the management and verification of corrective actions (nonconformances), preventive action, feedback and complaints.
- May assist in administering Technician Qualifications.
- Create new and/or edit current policies, procedures, forms and training related to QA, Operations, Sales, Metrology or that deals with a technical nature related to company business.
- Assist in the maintenance of approved suppliers based on criteria established by Transcat and customer requirements. Monitors vendor corrective actions. Assists labs in finding calibration sources based on established criteria. Interface with Purchasing to assist in negotiating best terms within established requirements for both Transcat and customer calibration requirements
- Assist Contracts/Sales/Marketing on outside calibration requirements during proposal preparation
- Other duties as directed.
