Project Executive – Data Center Construction
Location: Southern U.S. (project-based)
Work Model: Travel-based role — no relocation required
The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a nationally respected general contractor consistently ranked among the top builders in U.S. data center construction. With a strong and growing pipeline of mission-critical work, this firm is seeking a seasoned Project Executive to provide senior leadership across multiple large-scale data center projects.
This role is ideal for a construction leader who enjoys operating at a programmatic level—guiding teams, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest technical standards.
The Role
As Project Executive, you’ll provide executive oversight across several data center projects, serving as a trusted leader to project teams and a key partner to clients. You’ll be responsible for overall project performance, financial results, and team development, while ensuring consistency and excellence across all phases of delivery.
This position requires deep familiarity with mission-critical construction, strong financial and risk management skills, and the ability to lead in fast-paced, MEP-intensive environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership across multiple large-scale data center construction projects
- Guide projects from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover
- Serve as a senior client-facing leader, ensuring alignment, trust, and long-term relationships
- Review and approve project budgets, schedules, contracts, and scopes of work
- Drive financial performance through forecasting, cost control, and margin management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to scope, schedule, and cost
- Ensure quality standards and commissioning requirements are met or exceeded
- Champion a strong safety culture across all project sites
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and field leadership
- Oversee subcontractor strategy, procurement, and performance
- Apply deep knowledge of data center systems—power, cooling, redundancy, and integrated testing—to support informed decision-making
- Promote best practices, consistency, and continuous improvement across projects
Experience & Qualifications
- 15+ years of overall construction experience
- 7+ years of data center or mission-critical construction experience
- Proven success overseeing multiple projects or large, complex programs
- Strong background with a top-tier general contractor
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams while managing sophisticated client relationships
- High level of financial, scheduling, and risk management expertise
- Willingness to travel as needed to support active projects
Preferred Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with complex MEP systems, commissioning, and integrated systems testing
- Familiarity with Lean construction, BIM, and modern project management platforms
- Executive-level communication and leadership presence
