Position Objective:


The Procurement Specialist is an operations role that plans and implements company-wide purchasing of medical supplies. The incumbent will report to the Director of Vendor Management and will support the Operations Department in the overall procurement strategy, with an emphasis on vendor identification and management and ensuring that all the company’s products are produced at a reasonable cost.


Responsibilities:


  • Recruit and work with suppliers managing procurement contracts
  • Manage product catalog
  • Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Initiate and procure necessary goods and services
  • Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
  • Control spending and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs


Position Requirements/ Skills:


  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare supply chain management, healthcare administration, or business administration, preferred
  • Two+ years of procurement-related experience, required
  • One year of pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician or similar experience, preferred
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data
  • Knowledge of GPO contract pricing in the medical supplies industry
  • Knowledge of common medical supplies and equipment used in a healthcare setting
  • Talent in negotiations and networking
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
  • Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
