2. About the Opportunity:
The Patient Scheduler supports patients remotely by managing appointment scheduling and modifications while providing essential assistance throughout their healthcare journey. This role ensures smooth communication and coordination between patients and medical staff, contributing to efficient practice operations and a positive patient experience.
3. Responsibilities:
• Greet and assist patients with courteous and professional communication.
• Manage recall appointments and monitor no-show or cancellation reports.
• Route phone calls appropriately using transfers, paging, voicemail, or redirection.
• Retrieve and forward messages from the answering service.
• Register new and existing patients and activate patient files.
• Collect and record copayments accurately.
• Provide financial support regarding claims and billing inquiries.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and communicate benefit limitations.
• Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
• Document patient encounters with accuracy and detail.
• Support both patients and medical staff as needed.
• Collaborate with clinical colleagues and management to maintain efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and policies including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold high standards of ethics, professionalism, and the organization's mission in daily activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
4. Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of customer service experience.
• Preferred experience in call centers and as a medical receptionist or patient service representative.
• Proficiency with computer applications such as MS Office, email, and internet research.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and insurance payors.
• Preferred experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong communication, multitasking, time management, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to handle high call volume and adapt to changing priorities.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Pay range: $18 per hour to $21 per hour.
• Final offers are determined based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
