Overview
A global biopharmaceutical organization is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join its US Medical Affairs team, supporting oncology products and scientific initiatives. This field-based role focuses on Central California, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii, and requires expertise in oncology, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Development & Field Engagement
- Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and HCPs in oncology.
- Create and execute territory engagement plans in alignment with broader medical strategies.
- Identify key clinical insights and communicate them internally to guide product strategy.
- Provide medical education and scientific support through presentations at institutions, advisory boards, congresses, and investigator meetings.
Scientific Expertise & Exchange
- Stay up to date with scientific literature, clinical developments, and emerging trends in oncology.
- Act as a trusted medical and scientific resource for internal and external stakeholders.
- Share emerging data and clinical experience objectively and ethically.
- Represent the organization at scientific meetings and conferences.
Medical Affairs Strategy & Execution
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the U.S. Medical Affairs plan.
- Support medical initiatives including clinical trials, advisory boards, and speaker programs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, regulatory, and clinical development teams to align on strategic goals.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of activities and compliance with company policies.
Compliance & Ethical Standards
- Report adverse events and product complaints in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to national and local codes of practice and uphold the highest ethical standards.
- Act as an ambassador for company values and scientific integrity.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) with at least 3 years of oncology experience; or
- Licensed healthcare provider (e.g., RN, NP, PA) with a Master’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ oncology experience.
- At least 2 years in an MSL or equivalent role within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Proven ability to analyze and communicate complex scientific data.
- Highly self-motivated, strategic, and organized, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 60%, including across the assigned territory.
- Must live within proximity to a major airport.
Preferred:
- Experience in solid tumor oncology and targeted therapies.
- Understanding of clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements.
- Prior success in building trust with KOLs and engaging academic and community healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with digital tools, CRM systems, and remote communication platforms.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent travel to meet with stakeholders, attend conferences, and represent the organization externally.
- Use of laptops/tablets in various environments (not always office-based).
- Occasional extended hours to accommodate business needs.
