The Medical Editor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and compliance of pharmaceutical and healthcare-related materials. This role involves leading editorial projects, fact-checking, and preparing submissions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet tight deadlines. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain high standards for quality and consistency, and act as a key resource for medical and regulatory content. The ideal candidate thrives in a detail-oriented environment, exercises independent judgment, and communicates effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Success in this role contributes directly to the delivery of accurate, compliant, and impactful medical communications.

Accountabilities

  • Lead editorial projects for assigned accounts, ensuring correct spelling, grammar, style, tone, and accurate referencing.
  • Perform fact checking, clean reads, and review both branded and unbranded claims for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) submissions, including tagging and linking in client submission systems.
  • Serve as primary editorial resource for account teams, attending internal meetings and providing guidance on editorial best practices.
  • Ensure all materials comply with client-specific MLR processes and standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize editorial efficiency across projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of medical editing experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical communications.
  • At least 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical marketing, advertising, or editing publications (manuscripts, posters, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of scientific search engines (PubMed, Google Scholar) and American Medical Association (AMA) Style (11th edition).
  • Familiarity with MLR requirements and client submission platforms (e.g., Veeva).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple, deadline-driven projects independently.
  • Preferred: Experience with MLR reviews, FDA regulations, or long-form scientific editing.
