A leading international law firm is looking for a Lateral Conflicts Attorney to join its expanding Risk & Compliance function.
This is a newly created position offers full remote working and is ideal for an experienced conflicts professional looking to take the next step in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Lateral Conflicts Attorney role:
- Lead and manage conflicts analysis for lateral partner and associate hires across multiple jurisdictions
- Conduct comprehensive conflicts checks, including reviewing client relationships, historical matters, and potential legal and commercial conflicts
- Provide clear, pragmatic advice on conflict resolution strategies, including the implementation of ethical walls and the use of waivers
- Partner closely with senior stakeholders, including Partners, the Office of General Counsel, and recruitment teams throughout the lateral hiring process
- Draft and review conflict waivers, engagement terms, and related documentation
- Ensure compliance with professional responsibility obligations and applicable regulatory requirements
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of the firm’s conflicts policies, procedures, and best practices
Key Requirements
- Qualified attorney (US qualification preferred) or equivalent experience within a law firm Risk & Compliance function
- 3–5 years’ experience handling lateral conflicts within an international law firm
- Strong knowledge of conflicts rules, professional responsibility standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex conflicts issues and deliver commercially focused, risk-based advice
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
