mijn.host is a fast-growing hosting company from the Netherlands. We deliver high-performance web hosting and cloud solutions without unnecessary complexity. Our customers consistently rate us highly, and we intend to keep it that way.
The Role
As our L3 Engineer, you're the one who gets called in when L1 and L2 can't figure it out. You solve the toughest tickets, think stubborn mail delivery issues, vague performance problems, storage acting up, or DNS configs that aren't doing what they should.
You also make yourself available when the team needs you. A five-minute answer from you can save someone else half a day.
This is not a role where you close 60 tickets a day. You handle fewer, but they're the hard ones. On top of that, you set up new servers, improve infrastructure, and help the team grow technically.
What you'll do
- Pick up and resolve escalated L3 tickets: find the root cause, not just patch symptoms
- Build and harden servers on AlmaLinux / CloudLinux
- Manage and troubleshoot our stack: LiteSpeed, DirectAdmin, Exim, Dovecot, PowerDNS, DNSdist
- Work with KVM virtualization and Ceph storage
- Configure and maintain loadbalancers, CSF, and Imunify360
- Handle networking basics: BGP, VLANs, IP management
- Spot patterns in escalations and fix things structurally so tickets stop coming back
- Communicate with customers on complex cases
- Share knowledge with L1/L2 so they can handle more themselves
- Keep the knowledge base up to date. When you solve something, you document it
What we expect
- At least 7 years of hands-on Linux experience in hosting or infrastructure
- You know the hosting stack well: DirectAdmin, LiteSpeed (or Apache), Exim, Dovecot, PowerDNS
- Solid experience with CloudLinux and CageFS
- You're comfortable with strace, tcpdump, log digging, and performance troubleshooting
- Experience with KVM and ideally Ceph
- You understand networking: BGP, VLANs, routing, firewalling
- Familiar with CSF and Imunify360
- You've managed production servers on your own, not just assisted
- Discipline and ownership: we're a remote team, so we rely on people who take ownership. If something's on your plate, you handle it
- You speak up when you spot a better way to do things
- Good written English
Nice to have
