A LITTLE ABOUT OPEN WATER...

Open Water is a sustainable water brand built out of the mission to eliminate the need for plastic bottled water and contribute to healthier, cleaner oceans. We were pioneers in the canned water space, launching 10 years ago when there was faaaaar less conversation about plastic pollution than there is today. Now we know the scale of the issue and more and more people are eager for a change. Open Water is distributed across the U.S. where we’ve continued growing quickly—so quickly, in fact, that we need more smart, passionate people to join us.

We're obsessed with building design-forward, easily-adoptable products that provide discerning consumers with a convenient alternative to plastic-packed beverages. We exist to make an impact. If you'd like to come to work everyday to do something that matters too...well, we'd love to hear from you.

LOCATION: Remote, Anywhere USA

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Junior Marketing Designer is a highly execution-focused creative role responsible for producing high-quality visual assets across digital and print.

This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable pushing creative ideas (like a digital billboard at an NBA arena) and executing detail-oriented production work (like updating a spec sheet). You’ll work closely with the brand team to bring campaigns, product storytelling, and day-to-day business needs to life while maintaining a high bar for craft, consistency, and precision.

A core part of this role is taking ownership of design production work so senior leadership can stay focused on high level brand strategy initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON...

DESIGN EXECUTION (DIGITAL & PRINT)

  • Design a wide range of assets across digital channels: social media, paid ads, e-commerce, email, web, retail displays, field marketing, promo materials, and presentations.
  • Translate creative direction into polished, on-brand deliverables.
  • Ensure all files meet proper specifications (file formats, resolution, RGB vs CMYK vs Pantone, bleed, etc.)
  • Execute minor photo retouching when necessary.
  • Maintain brand consistency and best in class visual standards across all digital and physical touchpoints.

CREATIVE & CONCEPT SUPPORT

  • Contribute to creative development for campaigns and brand initiatives.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback while maintaining quality

PRODUCTION & DETAIL-ORIENTED WORK

  • Execute pixel perfect design with strong attention to spacing, alignment, colors, and typography.
  • Update and maintain existing assets such as spec sheets, decks, and templates.
  • Organize files and maintain clean, scalable working systems.

CROSS FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT

  • Partner with marketing, sales, and operations teams to deliver design needs.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate clearly on timelines, revisions, and deliverables.

EXPERIENCE & EXPECTATIONS

  • 2–4 years of design experience in-house with a brand (CPG a plus) or at a creative agency.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both creative work and production level execution across both digital and physical assets. Motion and animation are a major plus.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). After Effects and Figma experience are great too, but not necessary.
  • A strong understanding of typography, layout, and color theory.
  • High attention to detail so no extra spaces or stray marks slip through.
  • Ability to balance speed with quality. Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and reliable.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment.
  • Passion for sustainability, mission-driven brands, or community impact.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Resume
  • Portfolio (website highly preferred; PDF acceptable if needed)
  • Candidates who move past the initial screening will be asked to complete 2 short design assignments to better understand their approach, creative thinking, and overall skill set.
