Location: Burbank Operations Center – Burbank, CA

Work Authorization: OPT/CPT (& eligible EAD's)

Employment Type: W2

(Structured to meet prevailing wage bands for entry-level analytics roles in aviation operations)

Client

Avelo Airlines is expanding its West Coast operations out of Burbank with new regional routes and increased flight frequency. The Operations Analytics team supports daily decision-making across flight scheduling, on-time performance (OTP), crew utilization, and turnaround efficiency.

This role sits within the Network Planning & Operations Analytics group, not corporate IT. The selected candidate will work directly with operations managers, dispatch teams, and finance analysts to support real-time reporting and post-flight analysis.

The immediate need is driven by:

  • Increased route additions in Q3–Q4 2026
  • Backlog in operational performance reporting
  • Manual reconciliation of delay and turnaround datasets

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be comfortable working onsite with operations teams
  • No sponsorship at this stage, but long-term extensions possible based on performance
  • Strong preference for candidates who can handle data ambiguity in operational environments

Responsibilities

  • Pull and validate daily flight operations data from internal systems (Navitaire / scheduling feeds / CSV extracts)
  • Perform data reconciliation between planned vs actual departure/arrival metrics and flag inconsistencies
  • Build and maintain recurring reports on:
  • On-Time Performance (OTP)
  • Delay codes and root cause trends
  • Aircraft turnaround time at gate level
  • Support ad-hoc analysis for route performance and load factor trends
  • Work closely with operations control center (OCC) to validate data anomalies before reporting
  • Write basic to intermediate SQL queries to extract and transform datasets from internal reporting databases
  • Assist in dashboard updates (Power BI preferred) for weekly executive review decks
  • Maintain documentation for data sources, transformations, and reporting logic
  • Participate in weekly ops review calls and provide data-backed insights when required

Qualifications Required

  • 0–3 years of experience in Data Analysis / Reporting / Operations Analytics
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL (joins, aggregations, filtering large datasets)
  • Hands-on experience with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation)
  • Clear understanding of data reconciliation and data consistency checks
  • Ability to work with semi-structured datasets (CSV, logs, exports)
  • Strong communication—candidate will interact with non-technical ops teams
  • Exposure to aviation, logistics, or transportation datasets
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with scheduling or time-series operational data
  • Python (basic scripting for data cleaning is a plus, not mandatory)
