Overview
The Investment Analyst supports investment decision-making by conducting financial analysis, market research, and portfolio evaluation. This role involves assessing investment opportunities, building financial models, monitoring portfolio performance, and preparing detailed reports and insights for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of companies, industries, and investment opportunities.
- Build and maintain financial models for valuation, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- Perform market research, competitive analysis, and economic trend reviews.
- Analyze investment risks, return potential, and alignment with portfolio strategy.
- Prepare investment memos, presentations, and due diligence reports.
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of existing investments, tracking KPIs and performance metrics.
- Assist with portfolio diversification, allocation strategies, and performance benchmarking.
- Participate in the preparation of investment committee materials.
- Review financial statements, filings, and market data sources.
- Maintain organized documentation and ensure compliance with internal investment policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and capital markets.
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, or similar tools is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for presenting complex insights clearly.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and make well-reasoned recommendations.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of equity analysis, fixed income, private equity, venture capital, or real estate investment—depending on focus.
- Familiarity with portfolio management concepts and risk frameworks.
- Progress toward CFA designation is considered an asset.
