Internal Communications & Intranet Governance Consultant (6–9 Month Project)
Purpose of the Role
Oliver HCP is preparing the global roll-out of its new intranet — envisioned as the single, reliable, and engaging source of information for employees across the organization. To support this transition, we are seeking a consultant who can design and drive the governance, communication strategy, and change adoption required to make the intranet a success.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: the consultant will define governance structures, craft the global and local internal communications plan for 2026, coordinate and coach content owners, and personally create high-quality communications and intranet content. They will also play a key role in designing sustainable operational processes to set the intranet up for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance & Operating Model
- Define an intranet governance structure (global → regional → local).
- Identify and onboard content owners; clarify ownership, accountability, and workflows.
- Create operational guidelines for maintenance, publishing, content lifecycle, and quality.
- Recommend long-term operating model (including where the role could sit in the future — HR or Marketing).
2. Internal Communications Strategy
- Develop the 2026 internal communications plan, including:
- Global corporate topics
- Local business or country-specific communications needs
- Leadership communications alignment (in collaboration with Executive Comms in Marketing)
- Build an editorial calendar and holistic messaging framework.
- Ensure alignment across HR, Marketing, IT, and business units.
3. Change Management & Adoption
- Design a change strategy that moves the organization away from siloed, email-driven communication toward the intranet as the central hub.
- Create stakeholder maps and engagement plans.
- Deliver adoption assets (videos, guides, training materials, launch campaigns).
- Build feedback loops and analytics to measure adoption.
4. Content Strategy & Delivery
- Develop content guidelines, tone of voice, and editorial standards.
- Coach content owners, run content workshops, and support with structuring key pages.
- Write and produce intranet content, including:
- News articles
- Employee stories
- FAQs, onboarding content, and operational pages
- Implement interaction and dialogue formats to encourage engagement.
5. Project Leadership
- Build and maintain the intranet roll-out plan (phases, responsibilities, accountabilities).
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment (HR + Marketing/Exec Comms + IT + Business).
- Report progress to the HR VP and project sponsors.
- Make recommendations on required permanent capabilities post-rollout.
Required Profile
- Native English speaker (US English) with exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- 10+ years of experience in internal communications, change management, or digital employee experience.
- Extensive experience editing and writing high-quality internal communications across multiple formats.
- Strong background designing governance frameworks and communication operating models for global organizations.
- Demonstrated experience launching, managing, or revamping intranets or digital employee communication channels.
- Ability to engage and influence senior leaders; confident managing cross-functional alignment across HR, Marketing, IT, and business units.
- Skilled in developing interaction and dialogue formats (e.g., Ask-the-Leader, community posts, storytelling formats).
- Independent, proactive, and hands-on — able to build processes, create content, and facilitate workshops.
- Comfortable working in a matrixed organization and navigating evolving ownership structures.
