This internship supports our senior team as we assist a major Swedish retail group with their pricing architectures and portfolio economics. You will help coordinate the flow of data and documentation to ensure our financial assumptions remain grounded in reality throughout the project.

About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure.
We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

The Role
As an Intern Project Manager, you will work in a fully remote capacity to keep our advisory engagements organized and on track. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back and watch from the sidelines: you will be involved in the details of how we manage workflows and verify data for our client, a large Swedish retail organization. You will support the principals by ensuring information from various departments matches up and that project milestones are met with precision. Because we are a small firm, you will see exactly how financial decisions are made and tested, gaining exposure to rigorous commercial analysis that goes far beyond standard project management tasks.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Track project timelines and internal documentation to ensure all team members have access to the latest financial models and data sets.
  • Help organize and clean data from our Swedish retail partner to identify inconsistencies in their current portfolio economics.
  • Maintain meeting notes and action items, focusing on the specific financial assumptions discussed rather than just high level summaries.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports that challenge existing corporate narratives using clear, data-driven evidence.
  • Monitor the progress of execution phases to document where real world friction begins to affect the theoretical financial model.
  • Coordinate schedules across different workstreams to keep the principal-led team focused on the most critical commercial questions.
  • Verify that all project deliverables meet our standards for clarity and analytical discipline before they are sent to the client.
  • Support the collection of market benchmarks to test whether the client's internal assumptions hold up against external reality.

What You Bring
  • A degree or current enrollment in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • A natural curiosity for how businesses make money and where they might be losing it.
  • Strong skills in Excel and a comfort level with looking at P&L statements or large data sets.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage your own time effectively.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a focus on being direct and avoiding unnecessary jargon.
  • A skeptical mindset that leads you to double check numbers and ask why when things do not seem to add up.
  • Interest in the retail sector, particularly in how large groups manage complex pricing and capital allocation.
  • Attention to detail that allows you to spot small errors in documentation or scheduling before they become larger issues.

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay that is attractive for a remote internship in the consulting and project management field.
  • Direct access to the firm's principals, offering a chance to learn from senior advisors who are accountable for every result.
  • A fully remote work arrangement that allows you to manage your tasks from your own workspace.
  • Practical training in commercial due diligence and financial discipline that is rarely found in larger, more generalist firms.
  • The chance to work on a high-stakes project for a major Swedish retail group, providing tangible professional experience.
  • A culture that values honesty and technical skill over internal politics or corporate branding.
  • Participation in a small team environment where your contributions have a direct effect on the quality of our advice.

Working at Blue Oak Consulting means being part of a team that cares more about being right than being popular. This role provides a foundation in project management that is deeply rooted in financial logic and commercial skepticism, preparing you for a career where results and evidence are the primary measures of success.
