Pivto Better Learning | Remote (U.S.) with team hubs in St. Louis, MO and Austin, TX | Part-Time
Pivto Better Learning is a woman-owned digital learning and media company. We build custom eLearning, video, animation, and microlearning for healthcare, government, and public sector clients who are doing work that matters, organizations like SAMHSA, state mental health departments, and university health systems. Our learning changes how people care for patients, protect kids, and support their communities. We take that seriously, and we have a good time doing it.
We are looking for a part-time instructional designer to join our learning team. You will help turn complex, high-stakes subject matter into clear, engaging, and human learning experiences. This is hands-on design work: you will collaborate with our instructional designers, subject matter experts, and production team to shape content from analysis through storyboard.
This role is part-time and flexible. It is a strong fit for someone who wants meaningful project work without a full 40-hour commitment, or who is growing their portfolio in the healthcare and public sector space.
- Translate dense source material into learning objectives, outlines, and scripts that actually make sense to a real learner
- Build storyboards and design documents that hand off cleanly to our video and development teams
- Apply adult learning principles and sound instructional design to every project
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to get the content right and keep it accurate
- Help maintain a warm, direct, and authentic voice across our courses
- Incorporate feedback gracefully and keep projects moving
- 1 to 3 years of instructional design experience (agency, in-house, academic, or freelance all count)
- A bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in instructional design, education, communications, or a related field
- Working knowledge of adult learning theory and the ADDIE framework
- Strong, clear writing. You can take something complicated and make it readable
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- A collaborative spirit and an openness to feedback
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, government, or another regulated field
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG)
- Experience working with video and animation teams
- Comfort using AI tools to work smarter
- Work that has real impact on real communities
- A small, supportive team that values warmth and directness over corporate stiffness
- Flexible, remote-friendly schedule
- The chance to grow your portfolio with recognizable, mission-driven clients
