Instructional Designer / Project Manager

Role Overview
We’re seeking an Instructional Designer / Project Lead to drive the planning, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of eLearning initiatives supporting an IT Governance, Risk & Compliance organization. This role blends project management, instructional design, and hands-on eLearning development to deliver high-quality digital learning experiences and ensure strong learner adoption and completion.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Training Activity Management
- Manage multiple concurrent eLearning projects from initiation through launch, maintaining timelines, scope, and budget.
- Track and document project status, risks, and dependencies; provide clear, consistent stakeholder updates.
- Oversee end-to-end training activities, including course assignment, learner tracking, issue resolution, and completion monitoring.
- Create and maintain standardized processes, eLearning course guidelines, templates, and documentation.
- Capture lessons learned and implement improvements to enhance the learner experience.
Course Development & Instructional Design
- Design and develop engaging, interactive eLearning using tools such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
- Apply instructional design best practices to create clear, effective learning journeys for diverse audiences.
- Structure content into logical, learner-centered modules, microlearning, assessments, and reinforcement activities.
- Edit and refine content (text, visuals, assessments) to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment to learning objectives.
Multimedia & Learner Experience
- Integrate multimedia elements (graphics, audio, video, animations) to improve engagement and retention.
- Collaborate with design and technical partners to create and refine multimedia assets as needed.
- Ensure courses meet brand, accessibility, and usability standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with training managers, SMEs, and business stakeholders to clarify objectives and shape content.
- Develop and iterate on storyboards and prototypes based on feedback.
- Facilitate reviews and approvals, ensuring expectations are aligned and documented.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Test eLearning courses thoroughly (functionality, navigation, scoring, media, and tracking) prior to release.
- Document testing outcomes, issues, and resolutions to support future updates.
- Manage learner feedback and support requests; troubleshoot issues and coordinate timely fixes.
- Monitor completion and follow up with learners/managers to achieve a target 99% completion rate.
- Analyze feedback, performance data, and support trends to drive ongoing enhancements.
LMS & Content Governance
- Support the LMS intake process (request review, setup, monitoring).
- Maintain accurate course library documentation, metadata, and records for all learning assets.
- Develop and maintain process and procedure documentation for L&D activities tied to the program.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing end-to-end eLearning or digital training projects in a corporate environment.
- Hands-on expertise with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
- Experience integrating and optimizing multimedia (graphics, audio, video, animation) within learning solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to perform QA/testing and resolve technical/usability issues.
- Familiarity with LMS administration: course setup, enrollment, tracking, and reporting.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple parallel initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on clear documentation.
- Comfortable partnering with SMEs and cross-functional teams in structured, process-driven environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated or compliance-focused environments (IT governance, risk, compliance, healthcare, manufacturing).
- Background supporting marketing/digital programs for internal and/or external audiences.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and online learning best practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Marketing, Information Technology, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
