Role Description The Information Technology Support Specialist (Entry-Level) is a full-time remote role responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff and, when applicable, students across Richmond Public Schools. Daily tasks include responding to help desk tickets, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and supporting desktop computer environments and related peripherals. The specialist assists with basic system configuration, account access issues, and routine maintenance activities, while escalating complex problems to senior IT staff as needed. This role also involves documenting support activities, following established IT procedures, and collaborating with team members to ensure consistent, reliable technology services for the district.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in Technical Support and Help Desk Support for users in an IT environment.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting and Desktop Computers to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Candidates should possess foundational skills in Information Technology, including operating systems, basic networking concepts, and common productivity tools.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities, with a user-focused and patient approach.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple requests, and follow documented procedures and security practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework, certification, or degree in Information Technology or related field is preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, IT Fundamentals+).
  • Prior internship, school-based tech experience, or entry-level IT support experience in an educational or public-sector environment is beneficial.
