2. About the Opportunity:


The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role in managing core HR functions that impact employee experience and organizational compliance. This position is responsible for overseeing benefits, leave administration, payroll accuracy, and onboarding processes. The role contributes by ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies while maintaining data accuracy and supporting engagement initiatives. It is essential for facilitating smooth HR operations and supporting leadership in HR-related matters.


3. Responsibilities:


• Implement and improve onboarding processes to enhance new hire integration and ensure compliance

• Coordinate logistics for new hires and prepare required documentation

• Evaluate background check results and manage follow-up actions

• Conduct new hire orientation as needed

• Serve as primary contact for employee and management benefits inquiries

• Process benefits enrollments, life events, terminations, and system updates

• Track benefit enrollments, audit deductions, and reconcile invoices

• Collaborate with benefits vendors to resolve issues

• Support annual open enrollment and related communications

• Monitor employee satisfaction with benefits and recommend improvements

• Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and relevant regulations

• Support employee engagement initiatives such as wellness and team-building activities

• Oversee timekeeping system for accuracy and compliance

• Review timecards and coordinate approvals and corrections

• Monitor paid time off and leave balances

• Prepare and audit payroll data including hours, bonuses, deductions, and final payments

• Manage payroll-related employee inquiries

• Administer leave requests including FMLA, ADA, PDL, workers’ compensation, and accommodations

• Track leave usage and update records

• Coordinate return-to-work processes and maintain confidential leave documentation

• Support managers with leave processes and ensure regulatory compliance

• Maintain accurate HR records and ensure audit readiness

• Support compliance with federal, state, institutional, and accreditation policies

• Generate reports and respond to employment verifications

• Manage employee exit processes and related documentation

• Track and assign annual performance reviews and training certifications

• Analyze HR metrics to support engagement, retention, and efficiency initiatives

• Assist with special HR projects as assigned

• Promote employee participation in HR programs and model professionalism and customer service standards

• Adhere to organizational compliance requirements and communication guidelines

• Embody the organization’s mission, vision, purpose, and values


4. Requirements:


• Bachelor’s degree; HR certifications preferred

• 2-3 years progressive HR experience with expertise in at least two core HR functions

• Experience with Paylocity and/or Employee Navigator is a plus

• Knowledge of HR practices and federal, state, and local employment laws preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality and timeliness

• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

• High ethical standards and professionalism

• Ability to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business skills

• Proficient in MS Office applications and willingness to learn additional software

• Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment

• Ability to perform work outside normal business hours if required


5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
