We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Renewables Financing to lead our project and corporate finance activities across Germany and selected European markets. This is a critical leadership role responsible for securing and structuring capital to accelerate the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy assets – including solar, wind, and energy storage systems (BESS).
You will lead a growing team of finance professionals, report directly to the executive board, and work closely with business development, M&A, engineering, and external investors to shape and execute our financing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financing activities for renewable energy projects across development, construction, and operational phases.
- Design, negotiate, and execute project finance, structured finance, and refinancing transactions, including debt and equity instruments.
- Own investor relations for financial institutions, infrastructure funds, and development banks.
- Drive PPA structuring (both physical and virtual), financial modelling, and commercial contract negotiation.
- Build and manage a high-performing finance team, ensuring continuous development and succession planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with M&A, legal, engineering, and external advisors.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory developments in energy and finance to adjust strategy accordingly.
- Develop financial models and investment cases for new markets and technologies, including BESS and hydrogen.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in renewable energy project finance, corporate finance, or structured finance.
- Proven track record of closed transactions (>€100m total value) in energy infrastructure, ideally across multiple asset types (e.g. solar, wind, BESS).
- Deep understanding of German and European energy markets, grid regulations, and investment landscapes.
- Strong network of lenders, investors, and advisors in the renewables space.
- Leadership experience, including team management and board-level stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
- Fluent in German and English (mandatory). Other languages a plus!
