We are looking for a Head of Operational excellence to join out Care Division leadership team. The aim of this role will be to drive sustainable improvements in our service delivery and commercial performance, with a strong focus on operational transformation, revenue optimisation, and cost control.

What do we need from you?

  • Operational Analysis: Conduct in-depth reviews of service delivery models, workforce deployment, adhering to regulatory and commissioning strategies to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities whilst maintaining highest possible standards of care.
  • Project Leadership: Design and deliver a portfolio of improvement projects and workstreams across our residential homes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Revenue Growth: Work in partnership with Registered Managers, Area Directors and our Business Development team to identify and implement strategies to optimise commercial performance, including grant utilisation, chargeable services, and partnership funding.
  • Cost Management: Analyse expenditure drivers such as agency staffing, placement costs, petty cash and overheads, and implement cost containment strategies without compromising service quality.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to track project outcomes, financial impact, and service performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leaders, operational teams, finance, and external partners to embed a culture of continuous improvement and commercial awareness.
  • Change Management: Support the division through change by applying structured methodologies and ensuring staff engagement and capability building.

Requirements And Experience

  • Experience and clear understanding of working under Ofsted regulations.
  • Proven experience in operational improvement, commercial strategy, or transformation within public services, ideally in children’s or social care.
  • Strong understanding of financial and business metrics, their operational drivers and track record of delivering complex projects and business success.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Technical excellence - Degree level or equivalent in business or finance with professional qualifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, SCRUM)
  • Senior business leader with >10 years’ commercial experience in mid-market PE backed businesses.
  • Multi-site service delivery business experience required.
