๐Ÿง  About Advocates Who Thrive

Advocates Who Thrive is a mission-driven nonprofit foundation committed to championing dignity, growth, and inclusion for marginalized voices around the world. We believe that advocacy begins within โ€” by building thriving, inclusive communities, and equipping change-makers with the tools and support they need to lead courageously.

Through training, coaching, and capacity-building, we partner with grassroots and global allies to amplify the voices of those often unheard, working towards a future where thriving is a human right, not a privilege.

At AWT, we are more than an organization โ€” we are a values-driven movement, powered by purpose, collaboration, and radical empathy.

๐ŸŽฏ Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Coaching & Training to join our team. In this role, you will build and lead AWTโ€™s coaching and training function, overseeing both the people and the approach behind our learning and development activities. Currently, our team consists of one active coach, so this is a "builder" role.

At AWT, leadership means enabling others to thrive: you will create a supportive environment where coaches feel empowered to grow, take ownership, and deliver meaningful impact. You will be responsible for building a strong coaching community, defining how we work, and ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery across programmes.

๐Ÿ“‹ Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow the team: manage our current coach while leading the onboarding and support of a diverse pool of new coaches and trainers to restore capacity and ensure reliable delivery across AWT programmes.
  • Resolve project bottlenecks: Source and onboard coaches, including short-term contractors, to ensure the Lead to Succeed project stays on track.
  • Define, refine, and implement AWTโ€™s coaching and training approach, including methodologies, principles, and ethical standards. And translate this approach into clear guidelines and practical tools for coaches and trainers.
  • Ensure strong alignment between coaches/trainers and projects, based on skills, experience, and delivery needs.
  • Safeguard the quality, consistency, and integrity of coaching and training sessions across all projects.
  • Build an internal community of coaches that facilitates mutual trust, learning, exchange, collaboration and dependency among the coaches and trainers.
  • Collaborate with the Programmes Department to ensure that learning journeys are impactful, realistic, and aligned with available capacity.

๐ŸŒฑ Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in coaching, training, or learning & development
  • Ability to build a team from the ground up and motivate others in a remote setting.
  • Clear and compassionate communication skills, with the ability to set expectations, give constructive feedback, and listen actively to team members.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership, comfortable leading a team and ensuring steady and consistent content output.
  • Ability to translate ideas into structured approaches and practical guidelines
  • Passion for social impact and supporting young changemakers
  • Organised and reliable in a remote working environment

๐Ÿ“ˆ Preferred (but not required)
  • Experience leading or mentoring coaches, trainers, or facilitators
  • Multilingual fluency / intercultural fluency
  • Lived experience related to the communities we serve

๐Ÿ’ผ What We Offer
  • A supportive and values-aligned team environment
  • Flexibility and autonomy
  • A platform to contribute to meaningful, global impact

๐ŸŽ Volunteer Perks

As a token of our appreciation for your dedication, we offer the following:

  • Travel Compensation: Reimbursement for travel expenses related to events or activities conducted on behalf of AWT.
  • Learning & Development: Priority access to internal coaching, training, and development opportunities โ€” plus possible access to partner programs.
  • Monthly Community Meetings: Join us for mission-focused discussions and delicious vegan snacks & drinks with fellow team members.
  • Written Reference: Receive a personalized letter of recommendation to support your future professional or educational pursuits.

๐Ÿ“Œ What to Expect in the Recruitment Process

We believe in transparency and respect for every candidateโ€™s time. Hereโ€™s what you can expect:
