About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Graphic Designer to join the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). This role is integral to the Graphics Group within the Creative Services Division of the Communications and Community Engagement Directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating visually compelling communication materials that support ORNL’s mission and outreach efforts. This position offers a remote‑eligible work environment, allowing flexibility and work‑life balance, with the potential for location-based adjustments aligned with organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in art, graphic design, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of professional experience in graphic design
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant work and design capabilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to understand and implement complex instructions
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with electronic newsletter design (preferred)
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced research environment and changing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce high-quality visual communication materials including reports, brochures, signage, posters, infographics, presentations, and collateral for significant events and high-profile visits
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to develop effective visual content aligned with organizational goals
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate workflow to meet tight deadlines while maintaining cost-effectiveness
  • Manage relationships with printers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of printed materials
  • Ensure all design outputs comply with environmental, safety, health, and quality standards
  • Follow internal review and approval processes to guarantee the highest quality standards
  • Contribute to the overall communication strategy by engaging with team members throughout all stages of project development
  • Align design efforts with ORNL’s core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service
