Position Summary: Instinct is looking for a full-time graphic designer specializing in visual storytelling and content creation to join our dynamic, multi-functional Creative team.

Reporting to the Creative Manager, the Graphic Designer will be a key member of the Instinct Creative Team and will create strategic and compelling content that will primarily support the Instinct brand across email, social, and digital channels.

This role will be responsible for executing on-brand creative that translates business and marketing objectives into design solutions that are clear, compelling, engaging, and easy to understand. They will work collaboratively with our Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) team to lead the design and execution for engaging email campaigns and create original video content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn). Additionally, this person will have the opportunity to design creative solutions across all brand touch points, including printed marketing materials.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with members of the marketing team to develop brand approved multi-platform digital creative (such as emails, social content, website, and more) that support brand messaging and sales goals
  • Design and execute highly impactful email layouts with content that delivers strong click-through rates, engagement, and conversion
  • Support our IMC team by strategically crafting original short-form video content that can be used across social media platforms
  • Provide ad-hoc design support for additional marketing materials such as printed flyers, in-store signage, tradeshow graphics, or similar off-line pieces
  • Responsible for assisting with and executing a consistent brand voice across all consumer-facing and internal creative touch points
  • Strategize and collaborate with internal marketing teams to optimize and redesign new and existing digital and print collateral
  • Regular collaboration with the Instinct creative, IMC, brand, marketing, eComm and retail partners to design and execute creative concepts grounded in emotional storytelling
  • Develop a deep understanding of current and future marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and our target audience with a social first lens
  • Drive high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Edit photos and video as needed
  • Shape the visual identity of our brand as the company evolves


  • Demonstrated knowledge of email design best practices and experience developing email marketing campaigns that leverage data to drive effective creative strategy.
  • Experience capturing and editing original short-form video for social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram
  • Strong portfolio of design work demonstrating understanding of design principles such as branding, typography, color theory, and composition, as well as effective solutions for consumer-facing brands
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities and work well against multiple competing deadlines
  • Able to manage projects from ideation to execution
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Experience with digital marketing and strategic brand communication
  • Strong work ethic and personal accountability
  • Outstanding communication skills with copywriting experience a plus
  • Comfortable wearing many “hats” and working with ambiguity
  • “Pixel-perfect” attention to detail
  • Passionate about pets! Must have the ability to easily access dogs and/or cats to feature across Instinct’s social channels

Technical Competencies

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Expert level proficiency with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Knowledgeable about video editing software such as Adobe Premiere
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Apple/Mac user

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5+ years design experience in a retail, e-comm, brand or agency environment
  • Experience crafting performance-driven design solutions for established brands (focus on email and social media)

Travel Requirements:

Requires travel to Saint Louis office on a quarterly basis (at week at a time) along with 1-2 additional trips
