We’re building a large-scale reforestation & agroforestry project in the DRC under Gold Standard certification.
We’re looking for someone who is exceptionally strong in GIS and likes carbon modeling.
Please reach out to us if you:
- Can run Google Earth Engine without googling it
- Can defend a land-use classification to a verifier.
- Understand spatial accuracy, stratification, and why it matters for additionality.
- Build carbon models that actually reflect what’s happening on the ground.
- Still keep your sense of humour when Excel, QGIS and GEE misbehave.
The role
You will own the scientific, spatial, and carbon integrity of our Gold Standard ARR project in the DRC. This is a high-ownership role. You won’t just “do GIS.” You’ll shape how the project stands up to scrutiny.
You’ll work at the intersection of:
🛰 GIS & remote sensing
📊 Carbon curve modeling & biomass estimation
🌳 Field inventory data & tree growth monitoring
📑 Gold Standard documentation & verification
What you need to succeed:
- Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science, Forestry, Remote Sensing, Carbon Accounting, or other related field.
- 3+ years working with carbon certification (Gold Standard preferred).
- Strong GIS & remote sensing skills (GEE, QGIS/ArcGIS)
- Real carbon modeling experience (ARR)
- Understanding of biomass equations, sampling design, and uncertainty analysis
- Comfort working in ambiguity and solving problems fast
- Proficiency in R and Python
- Knowledge about satellite based monitoring is a plus
- Fluency in French and English
What We Offer
- The opportunity to shape one of the largest reforestation initiatives in the Congo Basin.
- A role at the core of Gold Standard certification.
- International exposure, working with partners across Africa, Europe, and global carbon markets.
- Remote work and flexible working hours. You shape your own role
- Competitive compensation package and wellness allowance.
- Flexible start date
About United Eco Solutions
Our team spent 2 weeks in the most rural parts of DR Congo and we still joked and liked each other in the end of the trip. We are committed to building a sustainable future by restoring one of the world’s largest rainforests – the Congo Basin. Our work advances over multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals while generating high-quality, nature-based carbon credits, now under review for Gold Standard validation.
With operations expanding across Africa, we are pursuing an ambitious mission: to become a global developer of certified, high-quality carbon credits.
