About The Company

SIFT is a pioneering technology company dedicated to redefining how modern machines are built, tested, and operated. Our innovative platform provides engineers with real-time observability over high-frequency telemetry, eliminating bottlenecks and enabling faster, more reliable development cycles. Founded by a team with extensive backgrounds from SpaceX, Google, and Palantir, SIFT specializes in mission-critical systems where precision, scalability, and reliability are paramount. Our work is born from challenging aerospace projects, including SpaceX’s Dragon, Falcon, Starlink, and Starship programs, where scaling telemetry and debugging flight systems demanded groundbreaking infrastructure solutions. As a result, our solutions are tailored for high-stakes environments requiring meticulous data fidelity and performance.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our cutting-edge telemetry platform. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and optimizing complex data pipelines that operate entirely within the browser environment. Your work will involve building interactive visualizations for time-series telemetry, frequency analysis, geographic mapping, and scatter plots, each demanding high performance and accuracy. You will tackle performance challenges that frameworks often cannot solve, such as bypassing React's render cycle for smooth 60fps interactions, managing large binary buffers, and coordinating worker thread pools. Additionally, you will architect composable UI systems that provide full data fidelity to technical users, supporting zeptosecond-level timestamp precision across the stack. Collaboration with backend engineers on API design, binary serialization formats, and structured data query semantics will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the architecture, shape product development, and help evolve a platform that supports complex, mission-critical systems from the ground up.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience building software for the web, with a focus on performance optimization and platform understanding
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript and experience working within React codebases
  • Deep systems-level intuition including memory layout, thread coordination, caching strategies, and data serialization formats
  • Proven experience developing software where correctness and data fidelity are critical
  • Experience with binary data processing and high-performance visualization techniques
  • Familiarity with browser threading and storage APIs such as Web Workers, SharedArrayBuffer, and OPFS
  • Ability to design and implement complex data pipelines and rendering engines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines that run entirely in the browser, including Web Workers processing Apache Arrow binary data
  • Build interactive and high-performance visualizations for telemetry data, frequency analysis, geographic mapping, and scatter plots
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks by bypassing framework limitations, managing memory efficiently, and coordinating multi-threaded operations
  • Architect and implement composable UI systems that expose the full complexity of hardware telemetry with high precision timestamps
  • Collaborate closely with backend teams on API design, binary serialization, and data query semantics
  • Contribute to the evolution of the platform’s infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and correctness
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation to promote best practices and knowledge sharing

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 per year, commensurate with experience
  • Equity options to share in the company's growth and success
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Flexible work arrangements, including potential remote work for qualified candidates
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment in Marina del Rey, CA, with in-person team interactions twice a week and periodic full-week gatherings
