Neurofounders is an independent media and market intelligence platform covering the neurotechnology ecosystem. We track the companies, science, products, clinical pathways, funding activity, and regulatory developments shaping the field.
Our work is written for founders, operators, investors, researchers, clinicians, students, and others who want clear, grounded analysis of where neurotechnology is moving.
We are looking for a freelance writer to join the Neurofounders team and contribute regular coverage.
The role
This is a part-time freelance role focused on weekly neurotechnology coverage. Most assignments will be quick news-analysis pieces, with room to contribute to broader formats over time.
You may work on:
- News-analysis articles on recent neurotechnology developments
- Startup profiles on companies building in the field
- Occasional interview articles
- Occasional deep dive analysis
- Background research and source checking
- Drafts that turn scientific, technical, commercial, or regulatory developments into clear reporting
The core task is to take a relevant development, understand what happened, and explain why it matters in clear, grounded prose.
Who are we looking for
Writing ability is most important. Neurotechnology knowledge is valuable, but it can be acquired over time. Strong writing skills are much harder to develop. We are looking for someone who can identify the important parts of a complex development and explain them in a way that feels clear and structured and is enjoyable to read.
The ideal candidate has:
- A completed MSc, ongoing PhD, or completed PhD in neuroscience, life sciences, technology, or a related field
- Native or bilingual English writing ability
- A clear talent for writing and a genuine interest in writing regularly
- Strong analytical judgment
- The ability to write for a smart, technically literate audience without sounding academic or dry
- Interest in tracking the neurotechnology field
Prior neurotechnology experience is helpful but is not required at an expert level. We care more about finding a strong writer with the right background, judgment, and curiosity.
Practical details
- This is a remote freelance role, paid per article.
- We start with one article per week, with each piece expected to take around 4-5 hours to complete once the writer is familiar with the format. The engagement will begin with a one-month trial, with the intention to continue long-term if there is a strong fit.
- Applicants must be able to work as freelancers. EU time zone is preferred, but not required.
