Responsibilities
- Create full-color, whimsical, and soft illustrations for a 24-page children's book
- Design a captivating front cover that aligns with the book's theme and target audience
- Develop consistent character designs for four main characters throughout the book
- Collaborate closely with the client to ensure illustrations match the story's tone and message
- Prepare artwork files to meet Amazon KDP self-publishing specifications
- Deliver all illustrations and cover design by the agreed deadline
- Proven experience illustrating children's books or similar projects
- Strong portfolio showcasing whimsical, soft, and expressive illustration styles
- Proficiency in digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate)
- Ability to interpret and visually represent written narratives for young audiences
- Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback
- Attention to detail and consistency in character and scene development
- Experience preparing files for print and familiarity with Amazon KDP requirements is a plus
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Open to remote collaboration; location in Chicago is not required
